Celtics Multiple Choice Question from Charlotte

Today’s multiple choice question ……… which of the following is correct:

A)     Ray Allen went five-for-six from three last night

B)      Rajon Rondo was two of two from the stripe agaisnt the Bobcats

C)      Kendrick Perkins sank nine of ten from the field

D)     All are correct

How many of you said D?

Needless to say, the Celts shot the ball well last night in their 18 point win at Charlotte. Fifty-five percent from the field and fifty-nine percent from three usually add up to a win. Throw in ninety percent from the stripe and its pretty safe to assume that you had one of your better shooting nights of the year. In fact, outside of a 11/03 win over Philly, last night probably ranks out as the best shooting night of the year. And that is saying something as a 10/30 win over Chicago and last week’s win over Toronto were both dripping with made baskets.

A couple points on last night …..

* By going 5-6 from three, Allen raised his 3-point shooting percent from 30 to 34 percent on the year. He still trails his career pace by 600 basis points, but the numbers are moving in the right direction.

* And by making both his FTs last night, Rondo bumped his average from 39 percent to 43 percent. That is still pitiful but on the bright side, he has made eight of his last 12, which is a tick above his career average.

*In his last two games, Paul Pierce has played 71 minutes and collected just three boards. Aging Paul is having a great year shooting the ball but he is averaging just 4.6 bounds a game, which is a career low and down a full board from a year ago.

Next up …..San Antonio on Thursday …….the Spurs have gotten healthy and are now riding a five game winning streak. It sets up as a tough game for the Celtics. Makes you wish that some of last night’s “makes” could have been banked and used on Thursday.
